Welcome to Ampers & Pilcrow
My name is Elena, and I founded Ampers & Pilcrow.
An Ampersand is not only a word or a sign but also represents a conjunction that contains the conjunction itself. The Pilcrow sign marks something new or the end of something. This is how the name came about but more than that Ampers & Pilcrow was designed to be an ever-evolving project. A project that re-invents itself and tries out new avenues in the realm of book design and typesetting, illustration and design.
¶
This doesn't mean Ampers & Pilcrow tries to re-invent the wheel but in our fast-developing world today, it means that every act of taking time and effort to create the best possible outcome can be a re-invention or even a radical act.
¶
At Ampers and Pilcrow, we take time for your project. We try to give the best possible advice we can for your project, even if it means to let go of it because we are not the best option for a project. The policy is simple, be nice and communicate well. A book project is not a simple task. It takes time to develop a design and come together to create a smooth process. It takes time to understand a persons preference for a project. It takes effort and empathy to understand what the client wants. This is not easy and it is as much a question of technical expertise as it is of being an empathic human being. We treat our clients with gratitude and so we hope to spark some positivity in the world while in the process of a book design or illustration job.
